About us
Gabriël Fagan Architects, founded in 1964 by renowned architect Gabriel Fagan is located in Cape Town and provides architectural services for contemporary buildings, ranging from houses, wine cellars and student residences to institutional such as clinics and commercial buildings.
The practice has also been responsible for the re-cycling of buildings to new uses, the integration of new schemes into historical contexts, and the restoration of historic buildings including the Cape Town Castle. It also has experience with green building technologies such as thermally efficient brick vaulting, rock stores and rammed earth construction.
The practice’s work illustrates the value of designing buildings to suit the site, working with weather constraints, orientation, topography, context, views, human scale and sustainability.
These primary concerns support responsible design.
The practice (now trading as Gabriel Fagan Argitekte Inc.), has been taken over
by John Wilson-Harris since 2020 after thirty years of service in the practice with Mr Fagan.
