We were appointed to design a new entrance gate to Cape Point. The client wanted it in a Cape Dutch or Victorian style, but Gawie felt that the gate had to fit in with the natural surroundings so decided to build a simple, sculptural concrete bridge that connects to the veld at the top, and lifts on the other side to allow for high vehicles to pass through underneath. On top of the bridge, indigenous plants are grown to blend in with the veld. Office facilities are located under the bridge allowing a view of Hangklip in the distant horizon.
