De Nieuwe Molen windmill located in the Alexandra Hospital Complex in Maitland which was constructed between 1780-1782 is the oldest and largest remaining windmill in South Africa. With its machinery removed in the 1920’s and without its sails, the mill is not operational. Work included general maintenance to this deteriorating building.
