This 1902 Victorian house renovation in the heart of the mother city called for the challenge of modernising a Heritage home with as little impact as possible to the street view of the house.

 

The brief was to add an extra bedroom to this three-bedroom house, an additional bathroom and the re-planning of the kitchen and upper study area with an optimisation of the views of the surrounding mountain ranges.

 

The existing outdoor area accessible from the kitchen and dining space was redesigned with the addition of a small pool surrounded by a timber deck. A portion of the deck slides seamlessly over the pool during the winter months. An intimate and cosy seating area overlooking the pool is shaded by a timber pergola.

 

The pool is flanked by a vertical garden constructed of recycled timber organically stacked to compliment the décor used to furnish the space.
