The owner is a keen water sportsman and needed a double garage for his water “toys”.  He also requested that the garage should link visually with the rest of his living space which was all to be on the ground floor together with the main bedroom. Four self-sufficient bedrooms on the top floor were to have a common lockable lobby at the ground floor entrance.

 

Located on a steep site, a change of level was planned between the lobby and lounge, and to diminish the height of the sea façade. The house has a relaxed appearance due to the vaulted ceilings which open up towards the sea view.

 

The garage has a second double door with direct access to the beach via a ramp. The glass sliding doors from the living/kitchen/dining spaces open onto a covered terrace with a braai, forming a generous outdoor entertainment area with a view onto the beach below.
